The Quinault Indian Nation purchased the Ocean Shores Marina and 40-acres of surrounding undeveloped land in 1996. A Master Plan, market assessment and feasibility analysis for future devellopment was started and completed. The completed plan callled for development of a mixed-use, up-scale destination resort - the Quinault Maritime Resort. Total build out is estimated at $150 million. The resort will be constructed around and environmentally oriented theme with a combination of American Indian and early settlers engaged in local logging and ship building activities. The buildings will be designed to reflect a classic American waterfront theme, with extensive landscaping, viewing towers, covered walkways and interpretative signage throughout the resort.
The Master Plan includes 450 condominium/time-share units in two locations on each side of the marina; a 120-room harbor-front hotel; 30 to 60 retail shops along the marina's boardwalk; up-scale restaurants and fast-food establishments; a grocery store; professional office space; conference facilities; and a signature recreational center with covered tennis courts, full-service fitness center, indoor running track, and a quad-sized indoor swimming pool/atrium/water park with waterfalls, fountains, et cetera.
The resort will surround the 200-boat marina basin that will offer a myriad of activities including whale watching, charter fishing, dinner cruises, kayaking and other water-based activities including commercial off-the-boat seafood sales. The marina will provide moorage for pleasure craft, limited commercial vessels, charters and a ferry dock that will accommodate a passenger ferry between the marina and the City of Westport across the bay.
The development will be up=scale, will appeal to families and will cater to romantic getaways & conferences. A shuttle will run from the resort to the Quinault Beach Resort & Casino on the beach approximately 6-miles north. The resort development will also include cultural and historic attractions.
